Sturgis Motorcycle Rally - Turn Around Day
Posted by Jason, from the Black Hills of South Dakota on Aug 11th 2022
They call it Turn-Around Day – the day that marks the halfway point for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Wednesday, August 10, marked that halfway point for the 2022 rally. This is the day when many bikers that arrived just before the rally head home. It’s also the day that many new rally goers arrive.
According the local news sources the crowds are large, but the numbers may be down a bit due to the inflation we’re all experiencing. For those that make the trip, the beauty is still here. In addition to the town of Sturgis, favorite destinations include Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Lead, The Badlands, Devils Tower, Hill City, Custer and Custer State Park, Keystone, Rapid City, the South Dakota Air and Space Museum at Ellsworth AFB, and Wall Drug.
While each local destination is great, it’s the trip between those destinations that are most remembered. The Hills are beautiful, and what better way is there to experience this beauty than riding on a motorcycle.
If you’re heading home, ride safe and wear a helmet. If you are just arriving, have fun, wear a helmet, and don’t override your biking skills, especially on the curves, of which there are aplenty!
