Fall Riding Opportunities, 2022

Fall Riding Opportunities, 2022

Posted by Jason, who lives in the Black Hills of South Dakota on Oct 9th 2022

The best thing about October, especially in the northern tier states, is that there’s still time to get out and ride. It’s not over until the snow flies. So, depending on where you live, here are some suggestions to round-out the riding season, thanks to Law Tigers, a national association of lawyers specializing in claims associated with motorcycle accidents. These recommendations are all great. Be careful.

The Dragon, Tennessee into North Carolina – Showcases the beauty of the area while offering a technically challenging ride.

Tortilla Flats, Arizona – spanning over 50 miles, it takes you along the Apache Trail and through the Superstition Mountains with sprawling desert features you’re not likely to forget.

Big Sur, Northern California - the Pacific Coast Highway, offers breathtaking landscapes amidst sweeping turns. The startling beauty is long remembered. Start at Monterey and head through the Redwoods.

Skyline Drive, Virginia – 135 miles of historic roadway, cresting the Blue Ridge Mountains, includes the Shenandoah National Park.

Natchez Trace Parkway, from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee. There are many historical stops along the way. For sightseeing and cruising, this is a winner.

Lake Shore Drive, Michigan – see manmade wonders, with lots of technical challenges. A twisty ride, for sure.

Mexican Hat to Bryce Canyon, Utah – the east-to-west trip will take you along the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Cresting over hills offers stunning views of crags and canyons.

Mount Evans Scenic Byway, Colorado – get a sense of adventure while in the thick of the Rocky Mountains. One of the best riding experiences in the US. Highway 103 takes you through natural landscapes at significantly high elevations. Known as a technically challenging ride, so go slow.

Beartooth Highway, Montana – abreast Yellowstone National Park, you’ll get a pioneering spirit with waterfalls, shops, and diners along the way.

Upper Peninsula of Michigan - A personal favorite. If you want to get lost, take Highway 28 out of the Sault Ste. Marie area and head west. It's a lonely ride, deeply forested, allowing one to ponder about life. Once you emerge, you'll be better for it.

Ride safe and remember, the best way to avoid a lawyer is to not need one. Be careful in the early morning hours. It’s the "early morning frost" time of year.
